She displayed the whole process of repairing hairpins through detailed pictures and full explanation, publicizing the basic rules and thoughts of restoration of culture relics. Kintsukuroi is full of casual and natural art feelings, and restoration of culture relics is precise and method-oriented, but the two ways are different methods to repairing glass hairpins.

Tacoma

The Visit to Corning Museum of Glass

2015年11月17日 / no comments

The Beginning — Wang Jianzhong’s Exhibition of Glass Art Opened

October 25, 2015

The Beginning — Wang Jianzhong’s Exhibition of Glass Art hold a grand opening ceremony at Shanghai Museum of Glass. The exhibition aims to explore the new approach to combine tradition culture and modern construction language and emerge new methodology and new material to deliver a kind of extensive and natural mood.

Combined with art, glass then casts unique glitter and charm with its transparency, refraction and reflection of light. Naturally elegant, glass fits our aesthetics appreciation: we are attracted to and fond of it, and are thus inspired to enjoy and exploit its beauty to gorgeous works. This is the art of glass: clear and transparent in its form, fiery and then cold in its creation, and glittering and rhythmic in its spirit.

Mr. Wang Jianzhong looks for a method to combine the traditional culture and the modern plastic art, to embrace new ideas with new materials, and to demonstrate a broad and naturalistic state of mind. His works infuse motion into the static elements: the breaking dawn, the rushing streams, and the blue marks of ancient warring states are episodes of history and scatters of nature, and all solidifies into eternity. His works are an embodiment of his engaging personalities. One of the exhibit, named “Echo”was donated by Professor Wang and it became the permanent exhibit of Shanghai Museum of Glass.

In the past four years, Shanghai Museum of Glass has presented 18 amazing glass art exhibition and 35 interesting public activities. We are still making unremitting endeavor to deliver “museum living style “to the public. The Beginning- Wang Jianzhong’s Exhibition of Glass Art is located on the temporary exhibition hall of Shanghai Museum of Glass, with duration of November,25,2015 to February 29, 2016.

How To Spend A Literary And Artistic Saturday At The Shanghai Museum of Glass

August 15, 2015

Passing through a hot summer, unknowingly it’s already the beginning of autumn. When the warm sunshine back to earth, how do you intend to spend a rare leisurely Saturday? Will you take a long lazy sleep, read a good book or have a rich feast like usual? Why don’t you come to the Shanghai Museum of Glass (SHMOG) and have a literary and artistic Saturday?

Listen to the Turkish designer to talk about Her own creative experience

Since the opening in April 18th, the Keep it Glassy 2 (SHMOG International Glass Creative Design Show “KIG2”) has received a wide range of attention relying on its unique design concept and the new space creative design. Because of the introduction of glass and light, originally closed solemn space obtained a kind of breathable and airy feeling. The theme of KIG2 “Treasure the past, think about the future” has deepened the audience’s experience of time in four different exhibition halls. As an exhibition focus in glass design, KIG2 continue gathering both domestic and foreign designers with the most innovative vitality and value of the unique concept; explore their kinds of inspiration from the glass, and share them with the public in the most refreshing way.

We specially invited KIG2 exhibition Turkish designer Bilge Nur Saltik to share her creation experience and knowledge in August 15. “OP-jects” is one piece of Nur’s beautiful work. It combines textile printing with prismatic glass, uses reflection and distortion effect of glass to create colorful geometric figure. Therefore, the final work shows a kaleidoscopic effect, and every day it can give a whole new impression.

Nur also brought us a series of works “through the looking glass” that combine the scarves and glass. Through different combinations of the two parts, it is perfect to meet the human desire to pry beneath the surface of things. Scarf buckle reflect what we see and display the details of fabric and printing, decompose the patterns into crazy and unpredictable shapes and colors.

“OP-LIGHT” and “OP-VASE” are the new projects that Nur has recently creating. Through careful pondering on glass and objects, she shows us the incomparable beauty of daily necessities. It turns out that ordinary glass objects can make life more beautiful.

Gentle Guqin, Distant Xiao

After enjoyed the beautiful artworks and the wondrous creativity of its designer, let us begin a melodious evening. It was a pleasant time, the moonlight fell and a little breeze passed softly. SHMOG held a “Qin-Xiao Ensemble” concert in new conceptual Ai-Lu Rainbow Hall which opened in this May. In the night, the light of the rainbow hall appears glitterier.

The Xiao song “Moonlight on the Spring River” was a prelude to the whole show. With the music accompanied by breeze coming, and drifting away, the audiences’ restless mind during the day began to calm and peace. In the next songs, “Yang Guan” expressed poet Wang Wei’s miss and care to his old friend, “Jiu Kuang” described poet Ruan Ji’s unrestrained and frivolous mind, “Yi Gu Ren” conveyed the author’s deep feeling of longing to his friend, and “Ze Pan Ming” describes poet Qu Yuan’s depression and grief to his mother land “Chu”. When this four song finished, one of the audiences, a Guqin Lover, quite inspired by the beautiful music, and he presented a ditty “Guan Shan Yue” with all the joy. The last song is Qin-Xiao ensemble “Yu Qiao Wen Da”. It has deep meaning. In the music audiences viewed towering mountains; heard the gurgling streams, and the talk between fishermen and woodcutters. A beautiful picture just flowed in the fingers of the players.

Sitting quietly in the rainbow hall, surrounded by the melody, we shared together. It was a wonderful Saturday night at SHMOG.

Sleepless In Museum With Family Fun And Adventure

August 1, 2015

On every quiet Saturday night the starry sky appeares in close conjunction with the glass palace, glittering and translucent and bright, excpt the evening on August 1st . It turned out to be that 21 families had fun with each other at the wonderful night in Kids Museum Of Glass on the first Saturday in August, breaking the peace with cheers and laughter.

This museum camp night started with an interesting icebreaker at 3:00p.m. Every family was unwilling to be so far behind in such a warming-up game, as a result of which, fathers, mothers and babies spared no efforts to win the game. Those who got higher scores were able to pick up the place at first that they were going to pitch their own tent, while others found it a little pity. But knowning what the result was had no influence on excited babies. Some focused on learning how to put up a tent by theirselves from fathers, some took the initiative to go around and say hello to their new neighbours, others could’t wait to make friends and share what they have with each other.

Many babies were as hungry as a wolf after the completion of camping. So all the families went to the garden in G+ Park to enjoy their superb dinner—–BBQ with the help of our staff. The kids, staying with new friends and sitting around the gill, were waiting for the great dishes by chef mother or father with anxiety and patience.

After the meal, 21 families carried on the visit in the museum, exploring highly art-filled Shanghai Museum Of Glass in G+ Park, interestingly interactive Kids Museum Of Glass as well as extremely cool exhibition—Keep It Glassy. The performances of glass blowering and hot melting were the highlight on this trip that you couldn’t miss. A vivid blue whale made of glass was impressively appeared in front of us in a short time, which demonstrated the worker’s remarkable technical proficiency. The glass blowing worker specially produced a glittering array of glass of three types this night, spreading appropriately the idea of the infinite possibility of glass, which achieving everyone’s applause on the spot.

Then the most nervous moment in the camp night was arriving. According to the rules, 21 families appreciated the fun-filled evening of discovery and interactive games and challenging activities as well.

Babies felt tired after finishing the long-term adventure, therefore they decided to go back to their tents for the night in expectation of the delicious breakfast tomorrow morning.

It seemed that mothers were unable to tell bedtime stories as usual because of exhaustion. But it doesn’t matter! Nestling close to parents in the tents and listening to the whisper of BoBo and LiLi, the kids sank into deep sleep with anticipation that some elves which were hiding somewhere in the museum would come out !

Let’s looking forward to more fun and more interesting Family Fun And Adventure (Season 2)!

Let Children’s Dream Soar

July 12, 2015

In somewhere surrounding you, perhaps there are elf that can become various foods, little monsters that have extraordinary power, or friends come from other planets…… Although we never see these creatures, all of us can depict them in our mind.

Speeding Flying Chicken!

Four-eyed Monster!

Men-devouring Donut Monster!

These strange names, in fact, are the name of the fantastic creatures designed by our talented glass dreamers!

In the morning on July 12, 2015, we invited six awarded talented glass dreamers and their families to come to the K-Space of Kids Museum of Glass, and have a Skype chat with the hot glass studio of the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.

“Mom, this is my painting!” “Dad, look, is it look good?” Entered the K-Space, the children held the hands of their father and mother, began to find their work hurriedly, and were proud to introduce their ideas of the painting.

At half past nine, the Skype chat started on time. The hot glass studio answered doubts about glass production and children’s own work patiently, at the same time, they were busy to create the work of one of the awarded child called “Multi-eye and Two-head Monster”. The most concerned topic of the children is whether their work is successfully produced. Thus, the studio showed the completed glass works to them. When the screen has showed their own glass works, children immediately “show off” to their parents. For those children who had not found their own glass work, their face had no trace of lost and they had more patience to wait. Kids sit on their seat, journeying looked at the top artistry, witnessed the forming moment of their work.

It needs time to plug in the wings on our whimsy and let them to become the fine art. When all the awarded works are completely produced, we will organize the KIDS DESIGN GLASS exhibition on October 2015, share the fairy-tale world that created by the paintings and glass artworks, appreciate the innocence and humor of our talented glass dreamers, and lamented the extraordinary expression of the glass artists.

Let us look forward and clap for our children dreams!
