蜕变逐新不止步

如同热情似火的熔融玻璃在最终冷却成型的前一刻，都给予观者充分的遐想空间和最大程度的期待盼望，上海玻璃博物馆这六年来的发展历程亦是如此。自2011年建馆以来，上海玻璃博物馆就始终处于“未完成”的状态之中。不同于冷冰冰一成不变的传统文化机构，上海玻璃博物馆秉持“新旧结合，有机再生”理念，逐年稳步成长，展现不一样的惊喜与改变。从六年前建馆时仅有主场馆、古玻璃珍宝馆、热玻璃演示区三大展区，包括辅助设施在内共3500平方米建筑面积，到2017年上海玻璃博物馆六周年之际，我们迎来了博物馆的全面提升与改造，为公众诚意呈现了十七处全新展区，建筑面积共计15820平方米，其中展示展出面积达7680平方米，博物馆共持有藏品计1200余件。上海玻璃博物馆如同有机的生命体一般，不断地茁壮成长，吸引公众数次回到博物馆。
博物馆之名在其实，而非仅在其形。作为承载着重要社会使命和文化传播功能的博物馆不仅需要严肃而细致地对待每一件或古老或年轻，或大或小的艺术品，同时也需要充分考虑观众参观体验与精神需求。在上海玻璃博物馆六年的发展历程中，我们针对孩子们特别建立了儿童玻璃博物馆，这座“酷玩、酷炫、酷乐”的玻璃之城引领孩子们在玩乐中学习知识、接触玻璃。携手美国塔科马玻璃博物馆共同进行的“天才玻璃梦想家”项目鼓励儿童大胆设想，无尽创造，保护孩子们珍贵的想象力和童真创意。面对城市中渴求艺术，追寻新鲜的年轻人，上海玻璃博物馆为他们不仅奉上了连续两届“Keep it Glassy国际创意玻璃设计展”，展现玻璃创意设计的国际化视野与非凡成就，更于2013年正式开启与当代艺术跨界重要项目“退火”。由博物馆邀请当代艺术家探索玻璃艺术的边界，不断触发当代艺术与玻璃这种材质的沟通、交融与迸发。看当代艺术家将玻璃玩出无限可能，谁还能说玻璃只是简单的二氧化硅混合物？
2017年6月4日，上海玻璃博物馆邀请热爱时尚、追逐先锋的人们脱掉所有深奥难懂的外套，戴上酷炫的眼镜，不照本宣科，只讲感官享受，邀请你加入一场沪上最夯的新概念艺术派对。在全新改造完成酷炫前卫的上海玻璃博物馆空间中，我们请来了常驻悉尼的当代艺术家Justin Shoulder作为特别嘉宾。他是一位游走于行为艺术表演、雕塑、视频和夜生活记录的艺术家。他的“奇异生物”系列（the “Fantastic Creatures”）是基于酷儿祖先的神话发明的。Justin Shoulder为每个角色制作了独有的手工服装和身体语言，建立起酷儿、移民、精神和跨文化间的非凡体验。同时邀请来自鸭打鹅乐队的主脑韩涵，在艺术品环绕氛围下带来特立独行的Live-set，融合了电子乐、爵士和部分数学摇滚的强音浪，直击人心。同时，我们也不忘博物馆所承担的公众责任，此次表演的部分门票收入也将悉数捐赠于青聪泉智能康复中心，传播温暖爱心，为自闭症患儿圆梦。
过去不可期，未来犹可追。上海玻璃博物馆始终致力于分享玻璃的无限可能，以建立互动体验型社区化博物馆为导向，为城市居民提供充满艺术氛围的的美学享受与参观体验。“蜕变逐新不止步”，正如博物馆六周年所提出的口号，上海玻璃博物馆从未裹足不前，同样在不断超越和突破自己。随着“退火”项目不断深入，为大家展现当代艺术与玻璃材质的全方位碰撞。在今年下半年，上海玻璃博物馆还将全新揭幕十八号展厅——当代艺术馆。当代艺术馆不仅展示了当代艺术语境下的玻璃作品，同时也是“退火”跨界艺术项目的常驻成果展厅。我们也将持续为亲子家庭带来博物馆帐篷夜、活力运动会、亲子教育项目一系列活动，为幸福的新人们诚意奉献博物馆婚庆项目，也不忘为在校学生提供更优惠博物馆参观方式和艺术课程创作体验。
回溯博物馆发展的历史源头，拥有着卓越文化地位和社会功能的博物馆在发展初期仅着眼于研究、收藏与展示的功能。随着时代发展与社会进步，社会对于博物馆的功能则提出了更新更高的要求，博物馆的教育学习、娱乐体验、启迪心灵等功能日益得到重视和关注。自2011年建馆初即被CNNGo网站评为“中国三个不容错过的博物馆”起，上海玻璃博物馆始终以跨界、交融为姿态，为玻璃艺术在国内的发展创造更多的可能，更为城市居民提供一种超乎想象的博物馆生活方式。当踏入上海玻璃博物馆万花筒入口的第一步起，观众可以尽情期待一个全新的博物馆体验。博物馆不仅仅是收藏过去，记录历史的刻板保险箱，更应该成为引领未来，激发无限创意与灵感之地。如同玻璃本身材质所拥有的万千变化一样，上海玻璃博物馆将始终以全新方式感染着所有观者和所在社区。
Celebrating six years of inspiration

Just like burning fusion glass until it cools down and shapes, it gives spaces for audience to image and reach to their largest expectation, and so does the six-year development of the Shanghai Museum of Glass (SHMOG). Since its opening in 2011, SHMOG has stayed in the form of “in progress”. Unlike other adamant cultural institutions, SHMOG firmly upholds the concept of “combining the present and the past, renewing every possibilities”. SHMOG grows steadily and presents unexpected surprises and changes to visitors. There were only Main Hall, Jewelry Box and Glass Blowing Studio since its opening six years ago. Till the 6th anniversary of SHMOG in 2017, the Museum upgrades and renovates to a brand new level, and sincerely presents seventeen completely new halls. The total building area is 15,820 square meters, in which, area for exhibitions reaches 7,680 square meters and the Museum’s collection item is about 1,200. SHMOG is as energetic as organic beings and it keeps growing steadily, which attracts the public to visit the Museum again and again.
The main function of a museum is presenting exhibits to the visitors, but SHMOG goes more than that. Museum bears important social missions and the function of sharing culture, it does not only concerns exhibition items from different ages and of different sizes, but the experience and mental need of the audience in the visits should also be one of the concerns.
Shanghai Museum of Glass invited different trend leaders to take off their rigid mind and fully enjoy the most innovative and coolest art party in Shanghai on 4th June, 2017. We invited Justin Shoulder from Sydney, to be our guest of honor. He is a contemporary artist working in performance, sculpture, video and nightlife/ community events production. His main body of work the ‘Fantastic Creatures’ are invented alter-personas based on queered ancestral mythologies. He made use of his body and craft to forge connections between queer, migrant, spiritual and intercultural experiences. At the same time, Han Han Gooooose from Duck Fight Goose was invited to present unique Live-set around different exhibits. The vibration created by the mixture of Electronic Music, Jazz and Math-rock hit hearts of every audience. Furthermore, we bear the social responsibility of museum and part of the ticket revenue will be donated to Shanghai Qingcongquan training Center for children With Special Needs, so as to share our love to autistic children.
Shanghai Museum of Glass puts effort on sharing the infinite possibilities of glass and aims to build an interactive, experience-focused, international as well as community-based museum, to provide artistic experience to citizens. “Celebrating six years of inspiration” is the slogan of SHMOG this year, and just like what it says, SHMOG never stops and consistently surpass itself and inspire others. “Annealing” has presented the full collaboration of modern art and material glass. The brand new “Contemporary Art Hall” will be unveiled in the second half of this year. The Hall not only displays various glass pieces under contemporary art content, but also is the permanent exhibition hall of the “Annealing”. We will continuously organize a series of activities suitable for families, such as “Museum sleepover” and “Athletic Meeting”, prepare wedding ceremonies for happy couples, and also offer different discounts and art-related courses for students.
Tracing back to the history of museum, it only served the functions of research, collection and display in the early times. With the change of time and social development, the society requires more than that. They put extra focus on education, entertainment and inspiration. Since SHMOG’s opening in 2011 and was assessed as “Three Museums in China That You Must Not Miss”, SHMOG is still on its way of creating infinite possibilities of glass art and providing life style far beyond citizens’ imagination. Once you step into the Museum, audience can fully enjoy a brand new experience of exploring. A museum is not only a collection of the past, nor a safe of recording history, but also a place for leading the future and inspiring unlimited creativity. Just like how flexible and changeable the material glass is, SHMOG will endlessly use state-of-the-art ways to influence all audience and the society.
