Summer Solstice
“The day becomes the longest, and night becomes the shortest. Hence the name Summer Solstice (or ‘Summer Arrives’ in Chinese). Arriving means a tipping point.”
On the day of Summer Solstice, as people mill around in the city, we see flickering shadows everywhere, and the shadows become shorter and shorter. Starting from this day, the days get longer and the nights get shorter: the balance of night and day has passed a turning point.
The change of seasons always leaves an impression on a sensitive mind. The artist’s own temperament moves in tandem with nature, and interprets nature accordingly. Through rain and mist, winter and summer, a clear picture can always be seen.
The participating artists differ a great deal in both their experimental tools and materials, and their use of drawing, but the audience can see something clear and bright through their works. Their unassuming subtleness is reflected in this kind of idyllic grace, achieving a harmony between man and nature.
Despite the heat in the city, people can feel a touch of coolness here.
