The Visit to Corning Museum of Glass
November 23, 2015
Mr. Zhang Lin, the President of Shanghai Glass Museum, was invited to visit Corning Museum of Glass in US on November 23, 2015 (American Local Time)
Accompanied by Karol Wright, the Executive President from Corning Museum of Glass, he first paid a visit to the high-profile new wing of the museum, namely Contemporary Art and Design House. The House was built in March 2015, consisting of the white building and the black one. The House has a display space with 26000 square feet and a new hot glass theater that can accommodate 500 people to watch hot glass show. The Museum invited the famous architect Thomas Phifer to design the House. Philfer determined to make full use of natural light effects, capturing the wonderful game effect between glass and sunshine. He also believed that the exhibition space should present a quiet and beautiful stage, instead of a loud and noisy place from the perspective of architectural perspective, serving the glass exhibits with a full heart. Innovative design concepts and advanced high-tech technology make the glass art works and designed products sparkling and shining, offering wonderful aesthetic enjoyment and visual experience for audience. After the tour, Mr. Zhang introduced the latest five-year development and the planning of the museum to the management of Corning Museum of Glass, which received a unanimous praise.
Since the establishment of Shanghai Museum of Glass, the President, Mr. Zhang Lin has visited to Corning Museum of Glass for 7 or 8 times so far, learning advanced experiences and innovation. We have reasons to believe that the two museums will have more in-depth cooperation and contact in the future. The two museums both are pursuing perfection, trying to publicize the art, knowledge and culture of glass to a wider area.
