Veronese
1921
The Veronese vase was designed and produced for the first time in 1921 by the artistic director of Venini at the time, Vittorio Zecchin. The design of the Veronese vase was taken from a painting by Paolo Veronese, The Annunciation. The object was immediately successful in terms of buyers and critics, and soon became a symbol of the design firm. Today, the vase remains a bestseller and is produced in light translucent colours like aquamarine, light green, and yellow, or in opaque colours such as white and coral red.

Vittorio Zecchin was one of the most renowned artists in Murano. He rejected some aesthetic canons typical of the time to revive the clean lines of the 15th and 16th century masters.
In 1914 he presented a series of glasses realised at the glassware factory Barovier with artist Teodoro Wolf Ferrari. During the First World War, he set up a tapestries studio in an ex-convent in Murano. His works – glass art, tapestries, embroidery, and paintings – were exhibited at festivals all over Europe, and he taught at the Abbate Zanetti School in Murano. From 1921-1925 he served as the artistic director of Vetri Soffiati Muranesi Cappellin Venini & C.
