2016 National Museum Day
May 19, 2016
18th May 2016 was the 40th International Museum Day. This year, the theme is Museums and Cultural Landscapes. Museums revolve around physical aspect (Geographic), social aspect (Communities) and various aspects (Nature, Cities and Villages). These aspects belong to and represent the environment at the same time. As defined by the Sienna Charter, cultural landscape means the country we live in, the unique nature, cultural background and the symbols represented by the landscape.
The Shanghai Glassware Factory was transformed into the Shanghai Museum of Glass. As the witness of the development of glass manufacturing business in Shanghai, the Shanghai Museum of Glass maintains the features of old industrial buildings. Combining old with new elements, the Shanghai Museum of Glass and G+PARK generate harmonious atmosphere as well as vitality.
The Shanghai Museum of Glass offered free admission to the public once again yesterday, which has been practiced for 5 years. There were 5000 visitors. We would like to thank every visitor for the understanding and cooperation, and show our gratitude to all the helpers. On behalf of the Shanghai Museum of Glass, we hope that we can continue bringing surprises and aesthetic experiences to visitors.
