Wonderful Education Activities of SHMOG
March 28, 2015
various educational activities took place in Shanghai Museum of Glass. Whether ‘Bobolili Lab’ or ‘Medic of Glass’ provided different events for the public to experience endless fun of glass.
At 10a.m., the volunteers from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry brought the kids ‘BOBOLILI LAB3’, which is focused on the theme of ‘Acid vs Alkaili’. Kids got to know the basic knowledge about these two ordinary materialby conducting several interesting experiments. Whether using PH test paper or observing the release of acid gases and deposit of alkali, kids could understand and observe these wonderful phenomenon. The highlights of the event were ‘Coke Meets Mentos’ and ‘Elephant Toothpaste’ which aroused the excitement of kids. Vigorous reaction phenomenon was not only to get the kids to scream; even their parents were truly surprised. The series activity of ‘BOBOLILI LAB’ not only let profound knowledge walk out of chemistry laboratory, as well as becoming a period of rare parent-child interaction time.
‘Medic of Glass’ is one of the series activities of ‘Now/Then’ exhibition. We invited the professionals form Fudan University to do the glass restoration together. Ms. Yuhui, who is specialized in relics conservation and restoration, firstly gave an interesting speech about relics restoration. The most challenge part was to restore the broken pieces in special glue. All the participants were so focused on their own work and accomplished the restoration work.
In 2015, SHMOG will put more emphasis on education activities. According to different ages and interests of the audience, museum will carry out different education activities to enrich the connotation of museum, sharing the endless charm of the glass.
