美国玻璃艺术家David Schnuckel和杜蒙交流活动

3月26日与3月31日,来自美国罗切斯特理工学院的玻璃艺术教授David Schnuckel和他的助手,该学校讲师的杜蒙一同受邀来到上海玻璃博物馆进行了多项别开生面的活动。同时,我们还有幸邀请到了来自清华大学美术学院的李静老师与两位美国艺术家合作,一同为园区和观众带来两场新奇有趣的热玻璃吹制活动。
两场热玻璃吹制活动在上海玻璃博物馆的热玻璃演示区进行,吸引了包括艺术院校的同学在内,广大的参观者前来参观。吹制的过程有趣且充满热情,杜蒙还在现场亲自做起了现场解说,包括每个工艺步骤的原理和作用,以及艺术创作过程中的灵感闪现。同时互动也热烈地开展,观众们踊跃向三位艺术家发问,提出自己好奇的问题。
同时,在现场的表演之后,两位来自美国的艺术家还针对我们艺术专业院校的同学们进行了一场内容丰富的讲座。在现场David和杜蒙分别讲述了自己从年轻时开始接触艺术、接触玻璃,并逐渐将玻璃变为自己最主要的创作材料的心路历程,和大家分享了自己的作品以及对于玻璃和艺术创作的独到见解。讲座过程中,他们例举了许多大家从未见到过的新奇玻璃作品,美轮美奂的视觉效果和奇特的创作过程,让现场的同学何和老师都沉醉其中,充分体会到了玻璃在艺术创作中的潜力和可能性。
两位艺术家奇特的艺术经历和丰富的艺术创作让这次玻璃交流活动异常精彩,让中美两国的玻璃艺术家们有机会进行对话,相互了解对方的想法和创作方式,也增进了两国人民的深厚友谊。
Education Activity of David Schnuckel and Du Meng

David Schnuckel, Visiting Assistant Professor of Glass at the Rochester Institute of Technology, his assistants, as well as Du Meng, Lecturer from the same institute, were invited to Shanghai Museum of Glass to participate in a variety of innovative events on March 26 and March 31.Meanwhile, Li Jing from Academy of Arts & Design from Tsinghua University cooperated with the American artists, brought visitors two interesting hot glass show.
The performances took place at the hot glass blowing area. Not only did it attract students from Art Academy, but also the general public. Du Meng gave explanation on the principles and functions of each glassmaking process, and talked about his inspirations on site vividly. The audiences were eager to interact with the three artists and asked questions that induce their curiosity.
The American artists also gave a fruitful sharing with our Art Academy’s students. David and Du Meng shared their unique perspectives towards glass and art-making, as well as their “glass journey”. From their first encounter with art and glass in youth to adopting glass as the most fundamental material for innovation. They gave a lot of examples of innovative artefacts, magnificent visual effects, and unique ways of making art. Students and teachers were fascinated, marvelled at the potentials as well as possibilities of glass.
The special and fruitful experiences of the two artists have made this event wonderful. It enabled both Chinese and American artists to communicate and understand each other’s opinions as well as methodologies, and enhanced the friendship between two countries.
