当代艺术的重要价值在于不断打破固化的体制与模式。通过对可见领域的干预，迫使固着性不断隐退，打开人们对于现有世界认知的思考，从而实现意义的重置。在2020这一特殊之年的年末小结中，上海玻璃博物馆选择了“退火”系列作品的呈现——通过当代艺术为玻璃这一传统材料赋予新概念和新能量，共同打破双方边界。而这也正契合了上海玻璃博物馆一直以来不断超越自身界限的精神。

正值“退火”项目五周年之际，通过对馆藏作品与文献的梳理和研究，上海玻璃博物馆在园区各处展示了一系列自2015年起的“退火”项目相关作品。在此次展览中，作品的集结不仅是单纯物理空间上的挪移和再现，更试图创造一种全新的观赏体验。在呈现方式上，此次展览借由户外集装箱“装载”作品，着力突破传统美术馆的“白盒子”展陈，以期缩短观众与当代艺术之间的生理间隔和心理距离。展厅内的当代艺术作品和艺术展览将与户外作品形成强有力的共振，重新构建起属于上海玻璃博物馆的当代艺术场域。此外，“退火”项目相关文献资料也将首次亮相，向公众和业界提供一种全新的项目书写方式和阅读路径。

我们始终面对着在未曾预计的语境中找寻未来之路的可能性。从过去的经验和历史中汲取能量、再次出发不失为一种可以自洽的逻辑。世间万物总在不断地变化，线性的时间静静流淌，就像江河不停流动。每当你再次踏入河流之时，这注定是一种全新的体验。

让我们随着时间的河流，无惧前行，不舍昼夜。

The significant value of contemporary art is to consistently break the rigid system and pattern. Through intervening the visible sphere, it forces the rigidity vanishing gradually, and inspiring people to reflect the existing world, so as to attain the reset of meaning. At the end of 2020, a unique year, the Shanghai Museum of Glass has chosen to present the “Annealing” project——empowering glass the traditional material with new concept and new energy via contemporary art, and breaking the mutual boundary, which in keeping with the spirit of the Shanghai Museum of Glass that consistently transcending its own limitation.

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the “Annealing” project, through the review and research on related collection and archive, the Shanghai Museum of Glass displays a series of works since 2015 related to the project in the Park. In this exhibition, the gathering of exhibits is not only appropriation and re-exhibition in physical space; it aims to create a new visiting experience instead. In terms of presentation, this exhibition breaks away from the traditional “white cube” display in art museums by using outdoor containers to “load” works of art, so as to shorten the physical and spiritual distance between audience and contemporary art. The outdoor art works will form powerful resonance with the contemporary art and exhibition in the gallery halls, constructing a contemporary art site of the Shanghai Museum of Glass once more. Furthermore, the archives and documents related to the “Annealing” project will be unveiled firstly, making its debut and providing a brand new project narration and reading approach to the public and industry.

From the beginning to end, we face the unexpected narrative context and have to find the possibility of a future path. Why not that deriving energy from past experience and history and restarting cannot be considered as a self-consistent logic. Everything is always in flux, linear time flows, as river running incessantly. It is destined to be a brand new experience when you step into the river again.

Let’s keep looking ahead fearlessly in the wake of the river of time, not ceasing day or night.
